Las Vegas, Nevada, September 1, 2006, Canyon Copper Corp. (the ‘Company’ or ‘Canyon Copper’) (OTCBB: CYOO) is pleased to provide results from a further five holes of the 2006 drill program on the Company’s New York Canyon copper project located in the Santa Fe Mining District, Mineral County, Nevada.

The Company has now received drill results from nine of the 33 holes drilled pursuant to the Company’s 2006 drill program completed on the Longshot Ridge zone of the New York Canyon property. The first four holes were previously announced June 5, 2006. Copper mineralization was generally intersected from surface of all five holes reported. All holes summarized in the table below were drilled by reverse circulation methods within the Longshot Ridge area.
