News Releases

Vancouver, B.C. - April 4, 2006, Aberdene Mines Limited (the 'Company' or 'Aberdene') (OTCBB: ABRM) is pleased to announce the startup of drilling operations for the 2006 program on the Company's New York Canyon project located in the Santa Fe Mining District, Mineral County, Nevada.

Drift Exploration Drilling Inc. of High River, Alberta has been contracted to conduct an initial 20,000 feet of reverse circulation ("RC") drilling using a track mounted rig. Drift conducted more than 10,000 feet of drilling on the project in 2005 and has knowledgeable and skilled personnel to undertake the expanded 2006 program. The rig has been mobilized to the property and drilling has commenced.

Leroy Kay Drilling of Yerington, Nevada has been contracted to provide core drilling services at the New York Canyon copper project this year. Leroy Kay has provided drilling services to Aberdene for the past two years and is to begin core drilling operations at New York Canyon in mid-April. Drill core will allow thorough geological modeling of both the Longshot Ridge copper oxide skarn system and the Copper Queen copper-molybdenum porphyry mineralized area. Core samples will be used for metallurgical testing in order to identify a beneficial copper extraction technique in the oxide mineralized zones.

A 150 line mile magnetic survey has been completed by McGee Geophysics of Reno, Nevada earlier this month. This data will provide valuable information for designing an approximate 50 line mile induced polarization ("IP") geophysical survey targeted at defining zones of sulphide mineralization peripheral to the Copper Queen zone. Zonge Engineering Ltd. of Tucson, Arizona has been contracted to conduct the IP survey which is scheduled for mid to late-April. Wright Geophysics of Spring Valley, Nevada is the geophysical consultants to the project and will provide interpretation of data.
